Pretty in Pink

I am a self confessed spray painter.  Call it lazy painting or painting for people with no extra time.  Of which, I am both. My oh-so-famous pink chair used to be an unhappy white color.  It was actually in my store for about a month, for sale and no one wanted the poor little thing.  I had a moment of inspiration one day (inspirations are few & far between sometimes) and I tore the price off, spray painted it and put it out front of the store.  Ever since then, people come in and ask how much is the pink chair.  Oh so sorry, not for sale.  Best marketing idea I have ever had.  The chair is very noticeable by people driving by and it pulls them in the store, where they then discover my little consignment boutique.

MOD PODGE

Mod Podge-ing has been around for what feels like forever and I am rediscovering this fun stuff.  My inspiration comes from: http://modpodgerocks.blogspot.com/  This site does rock.  Go see what they have done with the Mod Podge!!  In fact the following photos are from there.

Not pretty, huh?

Love it!!!  Inspiring, awesomely great!!  Can't even tell it's the same dresser.

So being a newbie podger, I opted to start small.  Found these great frames at: http://www.tidymom.net/2009/01/mod-podge-frame-tutorial.html
So I just followed along & voila!!

A not so pretty wood picture frame, in fact I believe the color is hunter green.

You can't see it but I painted the edges white.  I used a piece of scrap book paper to podge with.  Now my frame is beachier and less country-er.  Just need to add a picture and I'm done!!  Not bad for my first time.  I had fun anyway, made me feel crafty when in reality, I'm not.

Scrapbook Paper

As I am perusing other blogs I notice a lot of DIY sites use scrapbook paper to decorate with.  Fascinating and thrifty.  Don't know bout you but I tried scrapbooking and discovered it is verrryyy time consuming.  I kept all the stickers, stamps, funky scissors and of course the paper.  At least now I can put something to use and stop looking at that pile of supplies with guilt.

Cool and cheap, gotta love it. http://kljswilson.wordpress.com/

I think the candles are my favorite idea cause it is so easy to change along with my everchanging decor.

Stay tuned, gonna tackle mod-podge next.  Oooh can't wait.

Painting Primer

I have this weird little room/hallway in the store. I have stared & stared at it for inspiration. Finally something entered the hemisphere of my decorating brain, I don't know if it's inspiring but anything is better than what it was.
Decided to do a beachy theme with funky painted shelves of all sizes and shapes. Problem was the painting of said funky shelves. Primer paint has turned out to be not a friend of mine. Take a peek at the picture, is it supposed to look all bubbly & watery? I feel like I need to sand it down to apply regular paint. Ugh. More of that four letter word...WORK.
Funny thing when you get inspired to do a project, you think your HGTV. I truly thought I'd have this done in one week, max. Au contraire mon frere. You tend to forget that there is work, children,a spouse and a house that comes fully loaded with dirty clothes and dishes. Lesson learned. Think the project will take one week? Add another and then maybe even a couple of extra days, cause life will always get in the way of my decorating impulses.
Wow, I know it's a lousy picture & I believe that is a picture of the shadow of my arm. Crossing photographer off my list of talents right now.

Show & Tell

Welcome to my new foray into blogging. Hang out with me as I attempt to learn to blog, twitter, run my store & be a Mom, all at the same time. I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME WHIMPER!! Yes I know it's "Roar" but after that laundry list of Superwoman stuff, I will not be roaring, I will be whimpering. I'm only human, though my Mom would say I'm perfect. That's what Mom's are for!
If you read my little blurb in "about me" you know I own a little store in Jupiter, FL. I am always looking for ways to refurb the used, so pleaaaazzzzeee help me out. I know your as busy as me but I want to hear your ideas. I want to know what clever thing you did with that thrift item you bought.
So this blog site is all about share & share alike. I'll share my ideas & you do the same. Gonna be fun!! Pinky promise!!

This is my tiny corner store in Jupiter, Florida. A whopping 1200 sq feet. Tune in next week for pics of the inside. I know, I know, hard to contain the excitement!
